Hello blog readers! It is us – Morphic Graffiti! How are you? Well it has been a little while since we last wrote and while Bat Boy was only back in January – it, in many ways, feels like years ago!
Firstly, it is a mini anniversary here at MG HQ. We opened Carousel last year this week! While the preview period (as they always are!) was a little manic and crazy, it was still a wonderful time and we all look back on it very fondly! We still are blown away by the responses to that show, and to all our shows and thank everyone for that support.
Talking of our shows – check out our website for a few little updates. We have a new ‘Page to Stage’ section where we talk to our Video Designer Ben Walden about his work on Bat Boy. There are a few ‘never before seen’ shots of his video work from the show and the incredible B-Movie he made for the end sequence. Well worth a look (www.morphicgraffiti.com)
So….. why the gap? Well, as well as loving what we do, we want to make sure that as a company we keep moving forwards. Our shows have got progressively bigger from our very first at the Union Theatre back in 2012 with Jekyll and Hyde. It is really important that we keep pushing the company so the shows get bigger, the quality grows and our audiences come on that journey with us!
Our next show is a few months away from being announced (We can hear the sighs of frustration which we will take as a compliment :0) ) but as well as the physical creating of a show, our role as producers of our work means a lot of work getting that show ready.
The amazing news for us, is that we are going to be stepping up a massive gear with our next project. The bar is now set much higher so it means a lot more meetings, coffees, emails and day to day piecing things together. We also are starting to work with bigger companies who are bringing their wealth of experience in to help us. We have also started looking at bigger projects in the future so that we can maintain our momentum at the highest level! It’s all very big and scary stuff but if we have learnt one thing thus far is that we have no problem with hard work!
So please stick with us! Prepare yourself for something rather fabulous. No more clues for now though. It will be worth the wait.
